CCGS Board is pleased to announce the sponsorship of the following SIGs, together with their facilitators. CCGS SIGs are a membership benefit for our Society members. Non-members are welcome to attend a SIG twice before they consider becoming a CCGS member.

DNA SIG

DNA SIG (3rd Tuesday of each month virtually: 7:00 – 9:00 pm ET)

Facilitator: Cathie McCabe
The DNA SIG will explore the use of DNA testing in genealogy and allow you to gain greater understanding of integrating DNA test results with traditional genealogical research. Let's Do Something SIG

Let’s Do Something SIG (2nd Saturday of each month: 10:00 am – Noon ET)

Facilitator:  Paula Roos
The Let’s Do Something SIG (independent research) puts a two-hour meeting for genealogy research on your calendar each month. During the meeting, attendees work independently, but fellow researchers are available to offer suggestions if needed. This SIG meets virtually on the second Saturday of each month unless otherwise advised. If you have questions about this SIG, please contact Cobb County Genealogical Society.

Photography

Photography & Genealogy SIG (2nd Thursday with quarterly dates to be determined)

Facilitator:  Karen Molohon
The Photography & Genealogy SIG focuses on using photography for genealogy. Current topics of interest include: using your camera’s features; photo editing software; photo techniques for documents, people, and architectural structures; printing your digital photos; photo scanning; tricks of the trade; and the annual Great Genealogy Shootout. Technology

Technology & Genealogy SIG (1st Saturday every other month: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm ET)

Co-facilitators:  Laura Halls and Karen Molohon
The Technology & Genealogy SIG will present topics on software (both office productivity and genealogy), tools, and products related to all aspects of genealogical methodology, organization, and research. Writing SIG

Writing SIG (Writing SIG (4th Thursday every other month virtually – 7:00 – 8:30 pm ET (except December)

Facilitator:  Bob Barrier
The Writing SIG will encourage and facilitate the stages of creating, developing, revising, and publicizing writing in genealogy, from informal and personal reminiscences to articles and family histories.
